Will
I be unconscious?
No, you will be very relaxed, but you will be able to respond.
You will probably not, however, remember your therapy.
Will I have an IV?
Yes, the IV is the means whereby drugs are administered. The
IV is placed in the back of the hand, the wrist area or the
forearm.
Will I feel anything during the therapy?
The drugs used in IV sedation are powerful pain relieving drugs
which make you comfortable.
Will Dr. Denny focus on my sedation or my dentistry?
Your safety is assured by the presence of an anesthetist who
will constantly monitor your well being. Dr. Denny will concentrate
on providing quality dental care.
With sedation or sleep dentistry, how long will it be
before I can return to work and normal activities?
If there are no surgical procedures, most people return to work
and normal activities the next day.
Can I eat or drink before my appointment?
Yes, before the examination appointment. Not for 8 hours before
the appointment for IV sedation. This includes drinking water.
This rule is very important for your safety.
Can I drive myself to the IV sedation appointment?
Yes, but you cannot drive yourself home or take a taxi afterwards.
You must have a companion or friend drive you home.
Do I need a referral to your office?
No, we welcome both referred and non-referred patients.
Does Dr. Denny do other kinds of sedation?
Yes, we use nitrous oxide and oxygen and oral medications.
Does my insurance carrier cover sedation or sleep dentistry?
If you are having the removal of one or more of the wisdom teeth,
insurance carriers usually cover IV sedation to some degree.
Unfortunately, insurance carriers usually do not cover IV sedation
for sedation or sleep dentistry. They usually do cover the dental
procedures performed if you are allowed to go out of your network.
Do
you accept dental insurance?
We accept assignment of benefits from dental insurance carriers
who will pay us directly. We work with dental insurance carriers
to file and process your claims for you.
What if I do not have dental insurance?
We offer a number of payment options and financing. We also
accept most major credit cards.
Does Dr. Denny only perform sedation or sleep dentistry?
Dr. Denny performs a wide variety of dental services without
sedation.
Are there people who cannot have sedation or sleep dentistry?
Yes, some medical conditions may prevent you from having sedation
or sleep dentistry. Some medical conditions are best handled
with hospital dentistry. |
